The Nursery Makeover Begins!!!

I told you how excited I was to get started on my big nursery makeover and I’m so happy to tell you that the makeover has begun! If you missed out on my first post I’ll give you a quick recap.

I was chosen to participate in the Blueprint Baby Challenge and I am so excited to participate in it! I will be given $2,000 to do a nursery makeover for our newest arrival! There are three expecting moms (including myself) participating in the challenge and at the end of it all you will be able to vote for your favorite makeover! Each of us will have a chance at one of three prizes based on your votes and will win at least $500!! I’m so excited to take you on my journey of making a very special space for our third child!

My theme for the nursery is transportation. This is a theme that I think will really grow with my son and be age appropriate for many years. I can’t wait to see it all come together! We have really turned this into a big family project and we are all having so much fun with it.

To get started we cleared out the room to make way for everything that would need assembling. Luckily the room was already painted blue as it was Aiden’s room before so we saved ourselves having to paint the room again.

With the help of my Chase Slate card I got started shopping and I’ve already made the bulk of my purchases. I love that I can login to their free Blueprint site and see how much I’ve spent and keep my spending organized despite all of the chaos going on at home with my kids, being pregnant and now doing a nursery makeover! Their Split tool made it easy to select the number of payments or monthly payment amount that works best for  my large purchases. Chase does the math and makes it clear on each of my statements so that I can easily stay on track and meet my goals.

I also like using the Finish It tool. Now that all of my big purchases have been made it gives me the flexibility to create a custom plan to pay down my current balances faster, and allows me to choose a goal date for pay-off. Once again Chase does the math for me (love that!), calculates the monthly payments, sets up the plan and charts my progress on each monthly statement and online.

One thing that is really special in the room is this toy (which I won’t give away yet) that we let Danika and Aiden choose for the baby’s room. They even help me put it together. I will say that I am not very handy at putting things together, nor do I enjoy it but this was the one thing that I really wanted to do with the kids for the room.

Danika was loving being the “helper girl” as she called herself and quickly took to using the broom. She was such a good helper getting things for Daddy and helping clean up the room.

Aiden wasn’t wanting to be left out either and quickly started picking up the garbage and putting it in the bag. I love that the kids are helping so much with the nursery and this is really a fun family project. It melts my heart to think of bringing the baby home to a room that was created with so much love!
I couldn’t wait to go shopping and while the bulk of my shopping was done online due to our location (we live in a very small town), we did take a trip to Minneapolis to buy some things that I had in mind. My big focus for the room is storage and having a place for everything. Having two kids already that are quickly growing up I see the need for efficient storage. Their rooms can quickly become cluttered and I want this room to not only be a cute, fun place for the baby but to also be practical.
Now that I’ve got the bulk of my shopping done it is time to start assembling and getting the room together! This is the fun part for me and luckily my husband is great at assembling things 🙂 I can’t wait to see my ideas in my head come to life! Stay tuned to see how the room progresses and comes together! I can’t wait to let you in on the big reveal! It really is so much fun to put together. Of course I’d love your vote when we reveal the big makeover! You can also visit the Parents Magazine website and see ME on their site talking about our big makeover! How cool is that? 🙂

*I was provided with $2,000 to use for my nursery makeover by Chase. At the end of this contest I will have a chance to win $500, $1500 or $3000 based on the number of votes I receive. My opinions are my own.
